Authorities responsible for issuing visas

In Saudi Arabia, the Embassy and Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany are responsible for issuing visas.

The local responsibility for issuing the visa rests with the mission responsible for the region in which the applicant is located (residence).

The Embassy in Riyadh: the central and eastern region, which includes the Qassim Governorate, the Eastern Province, Hail, the northern border (the northern region), Al-Jawf and Riyadh.

The Consulate General in Jeddah: Tabuk, Madinah, Makkah, Al Baha, Asir, Najran and Jazan governorates.

Responsibility for the matter lies with the mission of the Schengen country in whose territory the sole or main destination is located.

Order preparation

The ability to create your visa application online and to have the completed and electronically scanned and printed form containing the barcode during the appointment with the VFS Global Service Provider significantly reduces the processing time. So please use the VIDEX online application form

Presentation

You can apply for the visa 6 months before your trip, the applicant must submit the visa application at the nearest service provider with all necessary documents. Biometric data (fingerprints) are collected if this has not been done by any Schengen mission in the last 59 months. In this case, you do not have to attend in person. You can apply for a Schengen visa at one of the visa acceptance centers in Riyadh, Khobar and Jeddah.

The service provider supports you during the visa process. It accepts your application, checks it for completeness, collects your visa and service fee, sends it to the responsible German mission and then returns your passport to you. The Service Provider has no influence on the decision made by the Embassy or Consulate General regarding your application or any additional documents required.

Application Procedure

The competent German mission decides on the issuance of the visa, taking into account all the circumstances of each individual's application. There is no legal requirement to issue a Schengen visa. In each case, the assignment must demonstrate that the following conditions have been met:

Clarity and validity of the purpose of travel to Germany

Financing (bearing) living and travel expenses

The visa holder's willingness to leave the Schengen area before the visa expires

A medical insurance document valid for the entire Schengen area and for the duration of the stay with a minimum coverage of 30 thousand euros

If the applicant is unable to finance the trip and accommodation from his own funds, a third person may undertake to cover all costs associated with such trip in accordance with Articles 66 and 68 of the Residence Act. This undertaking is submitted to the aliens authority at the place of residence of the person making the undertaking.

A visa cannot be granted to persons whose entry into the Schengen area would endanger the security or public order in the Schengen states or who do not fulfill one or more of the above requirements.

If the application is rejected, the applicant will be informed of the relevant reasons. Legal resources(s) are available to all applicants.

Application processing time

Normally it takes up to 15 calendar days to process the application for a decision on the Schengen visa application.

Please note that we cannot release your passport while your visa application is being processed. Please coordinate your travel and visa plans accordingly.

Info

Please do not send business invitations or other application documents to German missions. All relevant documents must be submitted to the external service provider when applying for the visa.
